I’m an average 40 something year old UK bloke, worked in construction most of  my life and at the time of writing (2010) the industry is very quiet, So I’m out of work for the first time in many years and looking to replace my lost income. I’m Computer literate but with no formal education in computing, everything I know is self taught gained from years of using the Internet, computer gaming and playing around with the odd web site.

When it comes to IM I have had little experience, never made more than a few quid with everything I’ve done, but I have learned some valuable lessons along the way,  until a month ago I had never tried AdSense, I had promoted an online dating site as an affiliate through AdWords and spent around £200 very quickly, gained a few members which luckily for me stayed members for a very long time and have made me my money back and a small ongoing profit. More valuable than the actual membership commission was the understanding of AdWords and how to apply it without spending a vast amount of cash, some people spend fortunes when first trying this advertising medium, that said I’m no expert.

The web is full of claims of making thousands of pounds per week with AdSense, I could put up a list of  1000 secret AdSense money making systems with 100% money back guarantee e-books that only cost you $79…..yeah right. Claiming success is one thing, putting up proof is easy enough as well, anyone good with photoshop skills can produce as much proof as you like, but my reply to all these claims is simple “the proof of the pudding is in the eating”.

This is where this blog comes in. As a Joe Average with some knowledge of the Internet, a very small amount of IM experience, my intention is to do a day by day, blow by blow diary with as much detail of what I’m trying, what is working, what is not, how I’m feeling the Highs and Lows. This may end up being a tail of sorrow, doom and gloom but it will be 100% honest, I know from the past this is a very hard way to make money and it takes a long time to know what your doing but there are many forums and fact filled web pages that have good advise and information and I intend to try them all, well maybe not ALL but as many as I can get through.

The basic rules will be

1. No Lies, if it works, it works, if it doesn’t I’ll say so.
2. Start up budget £50.00 I’m out of work and its all I can afford to risk.
3. All profit goes back into project until income is enough to provide a living.
4. Target earnings to replace average income so…£500 per week.
5. Nothing illegal or amoral…. no porn sites or scams.

As much proof of income and web stats as possible will be posted as often as possible, I want this to be an ongoing story.

On a final note this blog may come across as an instructional web site but remember……I’m a newbie
